As the monsoon season is ending, the Singapore European Divers are getting ready for their first diving trip of the year and PULAU DAYANG is our destination.
Dayang Island is located approximately 65 kilometers off Mersing on the Northeast coast of Johor in Malaysia. Pulau Dayang, next to Pulau Aur, is among the last unspoiled marine paradise in
West Malaysia and is the perfect opportunity for rest and relaxation.
We will be leaving from Singapore on Friday evening for 2 days / 6 dives and return to Singapore on Sunday evening.
If you wish to join, then do not hesitate and drop us an e-mail at singaporeeuropeandivers@hotmail.fr
Cheers,
Singapore European Divers (SED)

Six great dives this week-end at
Dayang !
Everyone was expecting this week-end...Departure on Friday evening for a transfer by car to Malaysia up to Mersing and from Mersing to Dayang by boat.
Imagine yourself on Saturday morning on a small island after a busy week: sun shine, clear waters, white sand, breakfast ready and a group of passionate divers...this is Dayang !

Have you ever seen a frog fish? The frogfish has very much the
appearance of a frog and a fish and is some of the most bizarre and spectacular of all the reef fishes. People travel to distant parts of the world to see and photograph them and some us have been
looking for this unusual fish at Dayang.

You surely recognized this brightly coloored fish...The
triggerfish is solitary and diurnal. Some species can be quite aggressive during reproduction season. Each jaw contains a row of eight teeth and the upper jaw contains another set of six
teeth. This one was agressive...!

The Christmas tree worms have colorful plumes, or tentacles, that are used for passive feeding on suspended food particles and plankton in the water. The plumes are also used for respiration. They
are very sensitive to disturbances and will rapidly retract into the burrow at the slightest touch or passing shadow.

The first dive on Sunday morning at the pinacles was our deepest dive and probably my favourite dive as I love the deep blue waters...
The cuttlefish is also quite common at Dayang. Despite its common name, the cuttlefish is not a fish but a mollusc.

I could not miss to take a picture of those clownfish. Did you know that the clownfish live in their anemone in groups. Usually a female lives with other males. When the dominant female dies the
head male changes sex and becomes the female. Amazing!
Well let's not forget to congratulate those who completed their Open Water and Advance Open Water course with Eugene!

Singapore
European Divers (SED) met with Tokyo European Divers (TED)...
On that day, four of us left Tokyo early morning to go an dive at Nishi-Izu. We reached Osezaki around 11:00 am but moved forward to Ida because of the usual traffic jams of the "Obon"
holiday period.
Antoine and Steeve did their first dive in Ida, Nicolas tried his new toy, it's a CCR rEvo II.

First
trip to Tioman for Singapore European Divers to discover this "garden of corals" !
Interesting dive sites including one location with seven little wrecks but poor visibility on that day.
Thanks again Eugene!
